Screen Shot 2015-04-02 at 1.12.45 PMIt's one thing for today to be National Employee Benefits Day, which is clearly a big event for all of us focused on employee well-being. But the day becomes even that much more significant when we note the theme of this year's celebration: Wellness 2.0.

As the International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plans notes, “National Employee Benefits Day 2015 focuses on Wellness 2.0—the growing movement to expand employer wellness programs to encompass all areas of total well-being: body, mind, wallet, community and work. Celebrate the day by examining what initiatives your organization could offer to increase your employees' overall health.”

For a terrific slide show on exactly what that means, check out Employee Benefit News, which reports: “April 2 is National Employee Benefits Day. This year, the focus is on Wellness 2.0 — the movement to expand employer wellness programs to encompass all areas of total well-being: body, mind, wallet, community and work. The International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans encourages those in the industry to celebrate by examining ways to increase overall health, and offers some ideas for each of the five areas of well-being to help kick start a wellness program.”

The EBN report focuses on five areas of well-being:

  • Body
  • Mind
  • Wallet
  • Community
  • Work
