With New Year's on the horizon — and the requisite resolutions to follow — how can you help employees keep their resolutions at the office?
Alan Strashok, B.Sc. Pharm., pharmacy manager at Express Scripts Canada Pharmacy, Atlantic, writes: “As 2013 comes to a close, it will soon be time for the annual tradition of making New Year’s resolutions. Since many of us indulge over the holiday season, our resolutions centre on health. Improvements to diet and physical fitness are important lifestyle changes that can pay huge health dividends—and healthier employees can also make a difference to a company’s bottom line.”
He also offers some quick suggestions on how to encourage employees:
- “Begin by talking to them about healthy options and how they can make better choices.”
- “Promote positive changes to nutrition.”
- “Share information about healthy food choices on the employee portal/intranet or newsletter.”
- “Promote activity.”
