Many small business owners wonder whether there are workplace wellness programs that can work on their limited budgets — or with their smaller team sizes.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control recently visited Biddeford, Maine, and interviewed multiple small business owners. Among the comments:
- One business owner said: “The biggest cost benefit is that you can build a team of people that are willing to work together and that are wiling to stick it out over the long haul, because you’re able to look at their personal needs, not just some rigid idea of how the work day should work.”
- Said another local business owner: “Once you offer people the opportunity to get involved, they say, “I’ve been waiting for this, but didn’t know where to start.”
One key seems to be determining focused areas for immediate impact. These businesses indicated success in smoking cessation, exercise and nutrition.
