“A new study of employee benefits trends finds that companies are moving rapidly toward providing outcome-based incentives for workers who take part in wellness programs,” according to Benefits Pro.
“The fifth-annual benchmarking study by bswift looked at three areas of benefits: defined contribution, wellness programs and incentives; and employee self-service and automation. The study was based on the results of an online survey conducted among 388 benefits decision-makers at organizations (of 50 or more employees) that offer health benefits.”
Key takeaway: “For both large and small employers, the top wellness program components are biometric testing and health risk assessments. Of companies with wellness programs, the percentage of those that offer incentives (83 percent of large employers and 78 percent of smaller employers) grew significantly over the past year — with health insurance premium discounts or credits being the most common types of incentive.”
