Self Care Hacks for Workplace Mental Health EFFECTIVE

Self-care hacks in the workplace. This has been a stressful year which may have left you looking for tips on burnout, stress, anxiety, emotional wellness, and overall how to take care of your mental health. When I deliver presentations for workplace mental health, HR leaders are usually interested in learning simple tips to give employees to support their mental health. Here are a few of the Self Care Hacks for Workplace Mental Health that I share.

1. Encourage employees to talk about mental health. This doesn’t matter unless it comes from the top down. Leadership needs to start talking about their own mental health challenges to show employees that they can comfortably share without having to worry about negative repercussions.
2. Encourage work-life balance. Call it out when you see people struggling with balance. This is an area that everyone struggles. When you notice that someone is out of balance, ask them about it and encourage them to do the same for you.
3. Share free resources with employees. Use the link below to get a list of free resources you can share with your employees or coworkers.

Creating a self-care plan that you can use at work can help you keep self-care top of mind. And when you work on addressing your own self-care, it can encourage others to do the same.

If that support isn’t enough, I deliver Transforming sTigma in the Workplace and How to Find Peace in Times of Uncertainty to learn more about my presentations.

Youth Mental Health in the COVID-19 Pandemic [SHOCKING]

Youth mental health has become an increasingly popular focus for society over the past two decades. Youth mental health in the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed this topic to a whole new level. Mental health issues in youth are increasing at an alarming rate. The two most common issues are youth depression and youth anxiety.

NBC News affiliate WJFW interviewed Mike Veny to gain a better understanding of what's really going on.

Both depression in children and anxiety in children are subjects that Mike Veny understands well. As a child, he struggled with both. Nowadays, he's a school motivational speaker who is on a mission to support people in receiving the gift of emotional wellness. He delivers high school mental health presentations live and virtually.

In this video, Mike says that journaling and doing a “brain dump” are good mental health activities for youth. Another thing that Mike recommends, which is not in this video is investing in youth mental health first aid.

Teen mental health issues are at an all time high right now so it's critical that we get them the help they need in order to prevent teen suicide. This is why school mental health needs to become a top priority right now. Establishing and maintaining a solid school mental health program is necessary in order to give youth the support they need right now.

Ultimately, teen suicide prevention is not just a schools responsibility. It's everyone's responsibility. It's important that all youth have mentally healthy adults in their lives. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, adults have been struggling with their own mental health and this is taking a toll on youth.

In his work as youth motivational speaker, Mike Veny is committed to helping children and teenagers navigate this uncertain time. He truly believes that if we are intentional about working together, we can through this difficult time and be mentally well.

Setting Boundaries at Work with Coworkers – PROTECTION

Setting boundaries at work is a challenge for everyone. The real essence of this challenge lies in setting boundaries at work with coworkers. If you struggle to speak up for yourself at work or say no, this video with Mike Veny will teach you how to set boundaries with coworkers and even how to set boundaries with your boss.

Mike Veny is a workplace mental health speaker who also delivers mental health in the workplace training. As the CEO of his own company, he's become a master at learning how to set boundaries with coworkers at work. If you are looking for a boundaries in the workplace training, this video with Mike Veny is a great place to start.

Learning to set boundaries in the workplace and maintaining professional boundaries in the workplace are skills that most of us aren't taught. We eventually discover that we need to do this when we become stressed, exhausted or burned out. These skills can prevent that from happening.

Setting boundaries in the workplace includes clarifying expectations. Years ago, one of Mike's friends taught him that “clearing up expectations on the front end avoids problems on the back end.”. He took this to heart and became intentional about constantly clarifying expectations with coworkers.

Learning how to say no at work is another aspect of setting boundaries. And yes, it's possible to learn how to say no at work without feeling guilty.

Speaking of feeling guilty, we sometimes feel guilty by simply thinking about the idea of professional boundaries in the workplace.

There is nothing to feel guilty about. It's absolutely necessary. In fact, setting boundaries in the workplace are critical to your mental wellness and career success.

Enjoy this video and please don't hesitate to reach out to Mike Veny directly (or comment below) if you have any questions.

How to Be an Effective Anti Racism Advocate

Today you're going to learn EXACTLY what you can do to be an effective anti-racism advocate.

In fact, in this video, I'm going to share with you a few things that you can put into action right away to fight racism in 2020.

With that, here's a quick overview of what's in the video:

Even though I’m an advocate, I’ve been quiet on social media about racism. Lots of people are sharing where they stand, what they think, and what you should (or shouldn’t) be doing and saying. This is a difficult time and we need real change.

Some of the things that I share in the video about advocacy include:

• Why the days of the angry advocate are over
• The importance of having real conversations with people who think differently from you
• The phrases that we can use in conversations to help us understand another person’s perspective
• Why you may be wasting your time sharing ideas on social media
• Why I love being an American
• My thoughts about why we need our police officers
• The role that listening plays in connecting with others

In short, this video will show you actionable steps that you can take to effectively advocate against racism in 2020.

How to Address Reopening Anxiety in the Workplace

Today I'm going to share some thoughts on what your workplace needs to do for employee mental wellness when reopening during the pandemic.

In fact, in this video, I'm going to break down some of the biggest concerns that companies are facing with employee mental health as they reopen and some of the most important things to consider.

With that, here's a quick overview of what's in the video:

When it comes to workplace mental health and emotional wellness right now, people are all across the spectrum. People struggled pre-coronavirus and now there are even more mental health challenges facing the workforce.

Everyone has experienced trauma at this point and there are different levels of anxiety. Some people believe everyone should be wearing face masks. Others believe it’s unnecessary. Some are ready for the world to reopen and others think we need to be waiting longer.

Here’s the thing—there is no right or wrong in this situation. We’re all figuring it out as we go. People have experienced loss. Loss of loved ones, income, social life, and being in the world. Everyone has a unique situation. Keeping this in mind can make all the difference as you have conversations with those around you.

And companies have the opportunity to move forward while creating a culture that supports employees. One way to do this is by focusing on workplace mental health and wellness.

In short, this video will show you actionable ways to support your employees during the reopening phase in 2020.

Today you're going to get a behind the scenes look at me working with my speaking coach, Paul Kreiter, to work on the conclusion of my mental health keynote presentation.

In fact, in this video, you’ll hear the exact advice that he gives me on how to finish my mental health keynote presentations in a powerful way to leave my audience feeling inspired.

With that, here's a quick overview of what's in the video:

The conclusion of my mental health presentations has always been a bit of a struggle for me. I want to leave my audience inspired and motivated to take action.

After hearing a typical way that I would conclude a presentation, Paul shares some valuable public speaking tips. He references the book that I wrote Transforming Stigma: How to Become a Mental Wellness Superhero and how I can draw on that messaging to create a powerful conclusion.

He also addresses the different types of conclusions that you can use based on your audience and their expectations for the presentation. Knowing this helps you find the perfect combination of ingredients to end your presentation strong.

As you’ll see, this is the first time I’ve been really excited about the conclusion of my presentations.

In short, this video will show you actionable ways to improve your presentation skills to deliver a powerful conclusion to your presentations in 2020.
