Becoming a Paid Speaker: Learning How to Make Your Audience Hungry for More

Today you’re going to get a behind the scenes look at me working with my speaking coach, Paul Kreiter. If you want to know how to become a public speaker, this series is for you!

In fact, in this video, Paul shares his “Building a Sandwich” approach to creating a presentation.

With that, here’s a quick overview of what’s in the video:

As a mental health keynote speaker, I have been delivering presentations for years. However, I’ve started to feel disconnected from a few parts of my presentations and want to find a way to create more flow throughout the presentation.

Paul shared with me some valuable presentation tips. He uses an approach called “Building the Sandwich”. This helps you understand the importance of each layer of your presentation and how they work together to leave your audience satisfied.

As a public speaker, you want to build your sandwich with your audience in mind.

In short, this video will show you important things to consider as you begin to create your presentation or are in the process of reworking your content in 2020.

How to Prevent Suicide in Youth: See the BORN TO STAY ALIVE Official Trailer (2020)

https://www.borntostayalive.com One Damaged Dame Productions Presents “Born to Stay Alive” a Short-Documentary film Directed by Adriana Dushaj. The film follows the lives of five people who have struggled with depression and have attempted suicide in their life. The film also includes a riveting fictional tale that plays in between the Documentary written by Adriana Dushaj as well. Our hope is to help others who are struggling with suicidal thoughts. If you or someone you know needs help today, you can find help at the Crisis Text Line and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.

Mike Veny is one of the people featured in this documentary. He is on a lifelong mission to discover how to prevent suicide in youth. Teen suicide is on the rise in this country and something needs to be done to proactively address suicidal thoughts. This issue is very personal for Mike who attempted to die by suicide at age 10.

As a national mental health speaker and the author of the book, Transforming Stigma: How to Become a Mental Wellness Superhero, Mike believes that success in suicide prevention is dependent on:

* Addressing DEPRESSION – Trauma and grieving significantly contribute to depression. Learning to process trauma and grieving is an art that’s unique to every person. When done consistently and effectively, depression doesn’t rule your life.

* Addressing SUICIDAL THOUGHTS – People are often afraid of suicidal thoughts AND afraid to share their suicidal thoughts with someone else. Once you share them in a safe space, they don’t rule your life anymore. You take the power back.

* Addressing MENTAL HEALTH – The subject of “mental health” has an interesting paradox. In one sense, people want to learn more about it than ever before. In another sense, it’s taboo to talk about it. It’s critical that our society normalizes the “mental health” conversation.

How to Fix Mental Health in Schools – 2020 (True Story!)

Today you’re going to learn EXACTLY how to schools can start to better support the mental wellness of their students (step-by-step).

In fact, in this video, I’m going to tell you exactly what would have helped me when I was struggling with mental health challenges in school.

With that, here’s a quick overview of what’s in the video:

We have a serious problem with mental health within the United States and within our schools. Over the past 20 years, the youth suicide rate around the world has been declining except for in the United States where it has increased. That’s a problem.

And, it’s not just mental health in high school that needs to be addressed. As a young child, I was expelled from three schools. I was admitted to mental hospitals three times for extended stays, I self-harmed, and I attempted suicide. These experiences have provided me with a unique perspective now as an adult on how we can better address mental health in schools.

There are three things, which I discuss in more detail during the video, that I think schools can do to start to turn the situation around.

Everyone in the school community needs to take responsibility for mental wellness.
Cultivate a culture of self-care and teach social skills.
Educate everyone on mental wellness.

Many schools think they need to rely on things like grants for mental health in school in order to make a change, but there are many free resources that are readily available to everyone (see the link below).

Mental health awareness is the key factor needed to help make a change. We can’t just rely on things like screening for mental health in schools. We all need to take responsibility to make the change.

In short, this video will show you actionable ways to begin changing the mental health culture within your school in 2019.

#1 School Mental Health Speaker – 2020 (Actionable!)

Today you’re going to find out EXACTLY why I do the mental health work that I do.

In fact, in this video, I’m going to tell you a little about my own struggle with mental health in school.

With that, here’s a quick overview of what’s in the video:

I’m a mental health speaker with a uniques perspective. I don’t work in the mental health field because I have advanced degrees in health and wellness. I do it because I have personal experience with mental health challenges. I’ve had them for as long as I can remember.

I was “that kid” in school. The poorly behaved one that caused problems. There are multiple stories that I wish didn’t happen, including one that I share in this video and in my keynote sessions as a school mental health speaker.

Mental health challenges like depression are often something that you don’t just realize that you’re dealing with. They involve thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In the video, I describe the way that most people realize there is a problem.

I came from a great home and had a family that did the best they could for me. But life has pain in it. That’s the reality. And, if you don’t know how to properly deal with some of those situations it can make it a real struggle. However, knowing how to deal with pain and struggle isn’t something that we naturally know how to do. Students need guidance in this area. And, after dealing with my own personal struggles, I want to be a mental health speaker for high schools that actually helps make a difference for those that are struggling.

In short, this video will learn my heart behind the work that I do and how it can benefit your school in 2019.
