We reported previously that Interactive Health named its Healthiest Companies in America last month, recognizing employers who achieved exceptional participation rates and health improvements through workplace wellness initiatives:

“154 companies across the country are being recognized for helping their employees make significant and sometimes life-saving changes to improve their health. These companies achieved participation rates in excess of 70 percent and a low-risk health score for their total population, based on rigorous and clinically sound health evaluations. They span nearly every industry, U.S. geography and size but are alike in their clear commitment to their employees.”

Here's an update of news reports:

Chicago Daily Herald: “Thirty-four Chicago-area companies have been named as Healthiest Companies in America by Interactive Health, a national leader known for its personalized wellness solutions.”

The post continues by quoting Doug Rose, chief human resource officer for Discover Financial Services in Riverwoods: “Discover believes that investing in employee well-being and happiness only strengthens the products and services we are able to provide our customers. When employees feel better they can help make the company better, which is one reason we've developed a suite of employee benefits and programs that help employees focus on their health and wellness.”

The Oakland (MI) Press: “Three local companies are being honored as Healthiest Companies in America by Interactive Health, a national leader known for its personalized wellness solutions. The Detroit-area winners are among 154 companies across the country being recognized for helping employees make significant and sometimes life-saving changes to improve their health.”

The post quotes Cathie Ruffner, HR Director, Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC’s Troy office: “As group benefits consultants, we ‘walk the talk.’ Not only do we recommend and assist organizations with incorporating wellness into their health care strategy, we have instituted many of the same wellness practices in our office. We are honored to have earned the designation as one of Healthiest Companies in America because it highlights that our employees take health and wellbeing seriously.”

Green Industry Pros quotes another award winner, Greg Wittstock, founder and CEO of Aquascape Inc.: “Aquascape has always been committed to the health of its employees and we’re extremely excited to receive this recognition. In addition to providing quality health care benefits, our company headquarters houses a 5,000 square foot fitness facility and sports courts for employees and their families to enjoy.”
